Quick trip to the border and back!

The last few weeks, it's been in the air when Justin was going to go down to Yuma, Arizona to deliver some trailers he made. Every day I was asking him if he knew when he was leaving, but finally, after about 2 weeks, he knew. This past Sunday he was supposed to deliver them, but then they didn't want him to...it was just kind of crazy. It was kind of an eye opener that maybe it was the spirit that didn't want us to go. Maybe something was going to happen and it wouldn't be safe. So Justin went and talked to his dad and Mike (another owner that's in charge of Justin when he makes trailers) and they were fine with him going once Justin found out if he needed permits and other things. So then we decided to pray about whether or not we should go. It was actually a really humbling experience. We completely put our wants aside to see if it would be okay and safe to go. After we both felt fine about it, we went to early church with a different ward, our tithing settlement, and then dropped Mya off at my parent's to head out.

I was actually really intimidated once I saw the haul we needed to drive to almost Mexico. But we got everything ready then started out on the road. We headed down to St. George, through Arizona into Nevada, going through Las Vegas, into California as though we were going to Needles, and over into Arizona into Yuma. We hit 4 states in a day!
A couple of weeks ago my sister asked me if I knew of any good neighborhoods for Christmas lights...well, I found some for you Lisa in St. George and then Vegas had the next best lights (even though they weren't Christmas). That city is very lit up at night.

We saw some intersting things on this trip. Once we got to Yuma, we saw a lot of border patrol! Yuma is only 20 miles away from the border.

This one is kinda crazy:

As we were driving on this road that takes us to Yuma, I saw this thing in the air, but it never looked like it was moving. I probably watched it for 20 minutes or more and it never moved. Once we got close to it, we realized it was a blimp. Nothing around but complete dessert, and there was a blimp. It was plain though and we realized it was border patrol.
Other things we saw: and exterminater truck with pictures of tarantulas, tons of lettuce fields, cotton fields, cows...lots and lots of cows...

When we were leaving Yuma, there was this foul smell. It kept getting worse and it really smelled like you stuck your head in an outhouse toilet. We were trying to see where the smell came from and we looked over and saw tons of black. We figured there were over 100,000 cows at this feed lot. They were packed in so tight and it just went on for probably a half mile out and a mile and a half along the road. We couldn't believe how many there were. It was really disgusting.
(This was my view for over 40 hours we were on the road)

On the way home, we went through Phoenix, Las Vegas, and up through St. George. We hit a storm on the way home once we hit St. George, but decided it would actually be safer to drive through the storm while the roads were slushy and not icy yet.

Home sweet home. We left Sunday afternoon and were back Tuesday morning. What a trip!

My Tidy Daughter!

So this is proof that Mya really does clean up after herself sometimes and likes to clean when I do. Every time I start cleaning up her toys, she picks some up and puts them away with me. This is from our computer room. I was on the computer and so I could do what I needed to, I handed Mya our mug of pens and pencils to keep her busy. After 1 minute, she had all of the pens, pencils and markers spread out across the room. But I just ignored it and let her play. A few minutes later I looked over and she had everything cleaned up. She found a lid to a box we have had in this room and put all of the pens in there!

This is from Oreos. I had given Mya a piece of Oreo and she took it out of her mouth getting black, soggy oreo all over her hands. She then decided to decorate our wall. I then handed her a rag and told her to wash the wall, and with Justin's help, she was excited to clean it. Even after it was clean she wanted the rag back to wipe the floor. I love her!

Wayment Family Christmas Party

On the Saturday before Christmas, my family has their annual Christmas party. We all eat, play games, open presents, and Santa and Mrs. Claus comes.
Mya wasn't too interested in Santa at first, but after a while she went up to see what all of the other kids were up to. Once it was Mya's turn to sit on Santa's lap...well, we'll just say she didn't care much for Santa.

He even tried bribing her with candy canes and a present, but she wasn't interested in him.

She did keep the candy canes though!

It's tradition every year that my mom gets all of the grandkids pajamas. They love it and as soon as they open that present, they all run upstairs to various rooms and change into them.

Here are some other things she got at the party that she loves! She loves riding her car and when she pushes the stroller, she walks by herself...I don't think she realizes that that's what she does though.

Thanks Ella for the stroller!

So here are just some pictures of Mya. She loves Jerky! Justin's so proud.

Mya's Firsts

Mya took 3 steps today! I unfortunately wasn't able to see it...but I guess I'll be able to see her walk a lot in the future!

Also, here are a few of her first words:
Mom, Dad, Hi, Thank You, Baby

Wow, I can't believe how much she is growing up.

She's So Big!

Every day Mya amazes me. She now has 2 teeth (as of a week ago), stands way good by herself (but is still chicken to try walking without holding someone's hand), and then just seeing her interact with toys and people just blow my mind. The other day, she was coloring! She's only 11 months old! She laid on the floor, kicked her leg up and down and drew with a crayon on a package that needed to get mailed out. I think she watches Megan and picked it up from her because Megan loves drawing. She loves hanging out with Megan. If Megan (by the way, Megan is my niece) has a friend over, Mya likes to follow them around and play with whatever they are playing with. Just the way she is with her toys and and figures things out is crazy. In the last 2 weeks I have seen such a huge change. She is so turning into a little girl. It's so adorable. I think I'm freaking out a little because I just can't believe my baby can do all of this. I'm definitely a proud mom. I think this is hitting me to because her personality is back now that her second tooth is in. She's happy, independant, and back to her old self. I just love that girl!

What A Week!

Thanksgiving weekend was so nice! I loved that Justin and I both had Thanksgiving weekend off and didn't have to go back to work until the next Tuesday! Thanksgiving for us was at my parent's house this year. It was fun hanging out with the fam all day. I was even able to see Lauren and catch up a little with her...which I found out she is getting married this spring! I'm way excited for her!

Then Black Friday...Well I first woke up early (which I said I wouldn't do) to hit Sears before going up to Logan to spend the day. They had a carseat for way cheap so I got that! Every year it's Justin's family tradition to go up to Logan the day after Thanksgiving. We do breakfast, bowling, hang out (we do some Christmas shopping) and dinner and games. They meet up with another family they're way close with.

(Bowling...Mya loved going up with me and 'helping' me bowl. She really did help me though. I was usually doing better when I was holding her.)

All of this fun just wore her right out!

But towards the end of bowling my mom called to let us know that my grandma passed away. Well, she was really my step-grandma, but to me she was always "Grandma Wayment." They were married for 25 years, so to me she has always been my grandma. But she was so nice and always looked her best. If she was ever in her pajamas when we visited, she would just apologize. She was always making something. Usually crocheting. I remember one Christmas my grandpa made me a cradle for my doll and she made the bedding. She loved pink and jewelery-she always had jewelery on. I have a lot of memories of her...The latest is that she would always call Justin Josh. He didn't care, but she really seemed to like 'Josh.' Today was her funeral though and I'm really sad for my Grandpa. She was his world and I just hope that he will be okay with her gone and not there for him to take care of her.

Once the real work week started, it's been a lot crazier than I thought it would be. It's not quite over yet...I'm on the comittee for the ward Christmas party, so once it's Saturday afternoon, I think everything should be back to normal.

Give Thanks

This is a little late, but I have tons to be thankful for. Here are just a few:

I am so thankful for family! Since I've had Mya, I've realized how important it is to have family. Mya has changed my life so much. Especially after my miscarriage right before Mya, I realized that having a child is such a great gift Heavenly Father blesses us with. After my miscarriage and before I found out I was pregnant with Mya, it was really hard for me to go to church and see people pregnant and with babies. There was one girl with a newborn in relief society and I remember the relief society president going up to her and telling her "You know you are so lucky to have her" and that has stuck with me ever since. It struck me so hard realizing that it is such a privilege to have a child and to not take that for granted. Mya makes my life so happy. I love taking care of her and playing with her. I'm so thankful to be a mom and I am so lucky to have her!

Justin! He is just amazing! I am so thankful for my life with him. He teaches me so much and especially by example and testimony. He treats me so good! I couldn't ask for a better man to spend forever with.

The Gospel. My life is so happy because of the gospel. It gives me such a hope and I know my life would be completely different without it. Along with this, I'm glad for my life experiences and learning from mistakes or building testimony from experiences and watching other people's lives. Ever since I was little I was quick to learn from other's mistakes (even if this was just watching my brothers and sisters and what not to do so I wouldn't get spanked). I observe a lot and think about where I want to be in my life and what choices will get me there. I try to keep an eternal perspective and I am so thankful to my parents and teachers I've had that have helped make this an impact in my life.

There's more, but since I'm behind in blogging, I'll leave it at this.

My Baby's Not Such A Baby Anymore

It amazes me how much Mya has changed! The things she knows how to do now just catch me off-guard and I just think how much she just seems like a little girl now and not so much a baby. She is all of a sudden motherly to stuffed animals. About a week or two ago she crawled into my niece Megan's room and stared at her stuffed animals. She probably was in there for 5 minutes talking to the animals. I left her for a few minutes and she was still in there staring at the animals. She loves it when I pull out a stuffed animal from her bag...but she's still weary. Since stuffed animals used to scare her, she is still cautious to big dog stuffed animals, dancing and singing animals, and any that have "caution" written all over them. (She is such her mother's daughter!)

She also got her first tooth! The day after Thanksgiving she got it...so the 28th...The bad thing though is I think tooth #2 is coming in because she is way clingy and hasn't been sleeping good. But it is way cute!

Clean Up!

I spilled cough syrup on our floor this week! Another red stain to add to the list. But I bought some stuff I think will take it out. Mya was so cute though. She saw us scrubbing the carpet, so she had to come help! I love that girl! She gets more and more fun every day!

Mya's Here!

Trichelle tagged me, here are the rules:
1. Go to your pictures
2. Upload 4th picture in the 4th folder
3. Post (explain?)
4. Tag your friends
This is right after Mya was born! I haven't written anything about this day, so this will mostly be for me. Holy cow, the memories from that day! We checked in the hospital at 9:00 am and 12 1/2 hours later, I had her! I was started at 10:30 and the labor only lasted 11 hours. And no, it wasn't awful labor for those 11 hours. Since I was started, we pretty much just hung out and watched movies until it was time to have her. At one point I told Justin to go get food because it was taking so long (he had Arby's)...while I ate ice chips and sucked on suckers. I think around 5:00 I had them start the epidural and it got more intense as the night went on. Justin did fine during labor, but the epidural is what got to him...actually, the epidural is what hurt the most, but it is so worth it! As far as actually pushing, it only lasted 45 minutes (which the nurse told me it usually lasts about 1 1/2 hours for most on their first child). It was really an amazing experience. She was born at 9:29 pm on Sunday, January 13th. She weighed 6 lbs 1 oz (or afterwards when they took her in the nursery, they told Justin she was really just 6 lbs flat, but I just go by what the initial weight was) and 18 inches long. Not long after, my parents came in and that's who took this picture. Then it was just us for the rest of the night. I was starving and so tired! The hospital had a "school lunch" packed for me. I've never been a fan of turkey sandwiches, but that was the best turkey sandwich I've ever had...and the chips and juice...It all tasted so good after all of that. After I ate, I slept for about an hour while Justin just held Mya and soaked it all in. Then I held her for a while...just stared at her, then we put her down and slept. I have such vivid memories of sounds and experiences from that night and the next few in the hospital. It was amazing!

Going Private

So Channel 5 news did this story about blogs that I've decided to go private. Let me know any of you that follow this blog and I'll send you an invite. Here's the link to the story for any who are interested: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=4699330

Mya Has A New Cousin!

Trichelle had her baby! Zaden was born yesterday afternoon. We went to the hospital to visit them yesterday and today, and he is just so cute! Mya got a little jealous though when I was holding him. Congratulations Joe and Trichelle! He's a keeper!

Halloween

Halloween was so fun! I loved dressing up and dressing Mya up. I was impressed, Justin even dressed up! (As himself with clothes I don't let him wear throughout the year...then just added his redneck teeth).

Mya went as a lady bug. We've dressed her up in it 3 times, so I think she'll be glad not to get in that again.

After getting all dressed up, we went to each of the grandparent's house to show her off (and of course to get my mom's traditional homemade doughnuts!).
The last 2 years I've made navajo tacos and banana bread, but with a baby this year, it was more fun to visit longer and just relax. After Mya went to bed, Justin and I watched a movie. So it was a fun and relaxing year. It goes by so fast though!

My Little Dancing Queen

Mya gets more fun every day! I can't believe how big she is getting. Lately she loves to dance. I turn on the radio (or any music, even her toy piano) and she will just start bouncing (that's her dance moves she gets from her dad). It's really cute when she does it. But she also loves to dance with us. I think she just thinks we're weird or something, but I'll just say that she likes it.

It's Only Been A Year

So it's been just over a year that we've lived in our house and I still have not decorated our room and the kitchen. So lately I've been really wanting to do that. I've felt like our room is so plain, so I finally found something that Lisa and I designed that I really liked and wanted for my room.
I still have a little more to do, but am just not sure what yet for our room.
The kitchen is my big project. I haven't been sure what to do because I have that big wall that extends past the kitchen. But I've finally figured it out and have almost gotten everything together for that.

I just have to paint my shelves now and buy a few picture frames and I think I'm good to hang everything.

I feel like my mom lately I've been doing so many crafts. That's pretty much all I've been doing in my spare time during the weekends. I have a table in our basement that has had unfinished crafts that I've either started or gotten the stuff to do, but just haven't taken the time to do them. We'll, I'm almost done.

I decided I just needed to get the other stuff done before I started on my kitchen crafts. I've been way happy with how everything has turned out. Randee, Amanda, and Becky came over tonight to do the one with the 3 pieces of metal to hold pictures with me. It was way fun to have them all there doing it with me.

Justin's Been Tagged

So, I'm finally doing the husband tag:

1. Where did you meet? Blind date. This is actually a really funny/weird story. I met Justin’s mom through my work when she would come get vinyl lettering and she told me that she wanted to line me up with her son. I didn’t want to go on another blind date, plus I’ve had a mom set me up with her son before…been there, done that. Justin was dating another girl at the time and didn’t want to take me out either. So good, I thought that was over. Then my friend Rachelle visited Justin’s ward one Sunday and he found out we were friends and he wanted to set Rachelle and his friend up. Also, around the same time (I don’t know the sequence of everything), his uncle that he works with said something to Justin about a girl in his ward (me) that he should take out. Once Justin decided he would take me out, it was only to double with his friend and Rachelle (which they never went out again). Neither me or Justin were planning on getting in a relationship because I had kind of given up on that and decided to go on a mission, and Justin didn’t want to worry about a relationship during that school semester. But we hit it off right away and neither one of us even went out with another person after that.

2. How long did you date before you were married? We dated 3 months and then got engaged. We were married 3 months later (so 6 months).
3. How long have you been married? Just over 2 years. Our anniversary was in August.

4. What does he do that surprises you? He’s pretty predictable, but once in a while he’ll just do something way sweet that I just love. Sometimes it’s flowers, other times it’s just a note, or fixing something or cleaning something while I’m gone. He’s sweet.

5. What is your favorite feature of his? His eyes and smile. His can always make me smile.

6. What is your favorite quality of his? He cares so much about others. He’s always putting others first and trying to make them happy.

7. Does he have a nickname for you? He’s always making up nicknames for me. Usually just Nat, but there’s Crap or Poop Face (I think it’s really funny) and Nat-for-brains (I don’t even know how he came up with that one) that he uses a lot, too. But he’s always giving me new ones.

8. What is his favorite color? He doesn’t have one.

9. What is his favorite food? Italian – There’s some dish an Italian lady made for him once and I would say that’s probably his favorite. I think it was some sort of baked pasta dish.

10. What is his favorite sport? Basketball

11. When and where was your first kiss? It was after our 3rd date. We went to dinner at Chili’s, then a Weber State hockey game, then back to his house to watch a movie. On the way home I so thought he was hinting that he was going to kiss me (but he claims he never thought about it) and he walked me to the door and gave me a kiss (he claims I was just giving him ‘the look’…Our stories don’t match up).

12. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? I like our date nights - probably that.

13. Do you have any children? 1 - Mya

14. Does he have a hidden talent? Probably…and is just not letting me know about it…

15. How old is he? 25

16. Who said I love you first? He did. We went to the cabin for the day and when we came home a way bad snow storm hit. It took us twice as long to get home. But when he dropped me off that night he told me.

17. What is his favorite type of music? Old Country. He’s like a grandpa already!

18. What do you admire most about him? His testimony and knowledge of the gospel. I learn a lot from him.

19. Do you think he will read this? Yes, he usually reads my blog.

My Sick Little Girl!

Having my little girl sick was so sad today! Mya's never gotten sick other than allergies since she's been born, but not today. Mya woke up first at 2:30 this morning (which is not like her, she sleeps through the night) so I just brought her in our bed, then at 7ish she woke up and had a bottle...not long after, her milk was all over her, me and the bed. So at first I wasn't sure if it was a fluke because she was a spitty baby before solid foods, but not long after she was throwing up more. It got so bad that she wasn't going more than 15 minutes between purges and it was just all her body could do to get out just a little bit of stomach acid. I just felt so bad. I seriously just wanted to cry with her. But tonight, she is doing so good! She has had pedialite for the last 8 hours and hasn't thrown up in 7! Her personality is back, too. For a while there she wasn't even smiling and just with the look on her face you could tell she was miserable.

Holy cow I love being a mom! Even though I was washing bedding from both of our beds and had thow up in my hair, I loved staying home with her today, taking care of her and holding her. The only thing I did today was shower and get dinner in the crock pot, the rest of the day was hers. It's just this rewarding feeling of taking care of her and realizing how much you love someone to not even care about all of the negative. Anyway, I'm just glad she's better.

What's In Your Mouth??

I find myself asking Mya this several times a day. Usually it's paper or if we're outside it's grass...I can't even remember everything I find in her mouth. Today though, I don't think I'll ever forget what was in Mya's mouth.

I was at Lisa's/work and in the office (which is right by the front door) and I could tell there was something in Mya's mouth. So as I'm going up to her, she pulls this face like whatever is in her mouth is disgusting, but she still wouldn't open her mouth. Then, once I'm close enough, there was this foul smell. "Don't tell me that smell is coming from your mouth"....and I pull out a STINK BUG!!!! Disgusting! (Sorry Michelle if you read this...you're probably dry heaving)
Notice it's missing its head....?????

Hello?

This is Mya's newest thing. She is so getting a phone for Christmas! Monday night I caught her doing this. We were in our family room and she was kind of off in the corner playing with one of the remotes and I was just watching her and saw her put the remote up to her ear! She did it a lot today with combs, pens, toys, and then my phone! It's so cute, and every time I catch her I say "Hello?" and she'll just look at me and laugh. It's way fun!

Let It Snow!

Holy cow this weekend was crazy, but I loved it! I couldn't believe it when I woke up to inches of snow. Our poor neighbors...since the snow was so heavy, part of their tree was on their car, another part out in the road, and the other part was leaning the other direction. It was a big shady tree, too. Justin was over that night helping them cut it up and getting it off the road and car.

Mya was wearing a way cute outfit that day and I thought it would be so cute to get a picture of her with the snow, but then I spaced it but did get a picture the next morning before the snow melted. It melted a lot by this time, but it still covered the ground.
I was curious to see what she would do about the snow...she of course ate it! I can't believe I even wondered. Everything goes in her mouth.

I loved it though because it reminded me of winter and even though fall is my favorite, winter just has a feel to it that I love. Life kind of slows down and I take in more of the every day moments. That's exactly how it seemed this weekend and I just think snow is so pretty, too! So I'm glad it's gone for now so I can enjoy the fall, but I can't wait for it to come again.
