Quick trip to the border and back!

The last few weeks, it's been in the air when Justin was going to go down to Yuma, Arizona to deliver some trailers he made. Every day I was asking him if he knew when he was leaving, but finally, after about 2 weeks, he knew. This past Sunday he was supposed to deliver them, but then they didn't want him to...it was just kind of crazy. It was kind of an eye opener that maybe it was the spirit that didn't want us to go. Maybe something was going to happen and it wouldn't be safe. So Justin went and talked to his dad and Mike (another owner that's in charge of Justin when he makes trailers) and they were fine with him going once Justin found out if he needed permits and other things. So then we decided to pray about whether or not we should go. It was actually a really humbling experience. We completely put our wants aside to see if it would be okay and safe to go. After we both felt fine about it, we went to early church with a different ward, our tithing settlement, and then dropped Mya off at my parent's to head out.

I was actually really intimidated once I saw the haul we needed to drive to almost Mexico. But we got everything ready then started out on the road. We headed down to St. George, through Arizona into Nevada, going through Las Vegas, into California as though we were going to Needles, and over into Arizona into Yuma. We hit 4 states in a day!
A couple of weeks ago my sister asked me if I knew of any good neighborhoods for Christmas lights...well, I found some for you Lisa in St. George and then Vegas had the next best lights (even though they weren't Christmas). That city is very lit up at night.

We saw some intersting things on this trip. Once we got to Yuma, we saw a lot of border patrol! Yuma is only 20 miles away from the border.

This one is kinda crazy:

As we were driving on this road that takes us to Yuma, I saw this thing in the air, but it never looked like it was moving. I probably watched it for 20 minutes or more and it never moved. Once we got close to it, we realized it was a blimp. Nothing around but complete dessert, and there was a blimp. It was plain though and we realized it was border patrol.
Other things we saw: and exterminater truck with pictures of tarantulas, tons of lettuce fields, cotton fields, cows...lots and lots of cows...

When we were leaving Yuma, there was this foul smell. It kept getting worse and it really smelled like you stuck your head in an outhouse toilet. We were trying to see where the smell came from and we looked over and saw tons of black. We figured there were over 100,000 cows at this feed lot. They were packed in so tight and it just went on for probably a half mile out and a mile and a half along the road. We couldn't believe how many there were. It was really disgusting.
(This was my view for over 40 hours we were on the road)

On the way home, we went through Phoenix, Las Vegas, and up through St. George. We hit a storm on the way home once we hit St. George, but decided it would actually be safer to drive through the storm while the roads were slushy and not icy yet.

Home sweet home. We left Sunday afternoon and were back Tuesday morning. What a trip!

My Tidy Daughter!

So this is proof that Mya really does clean up after herself sometimes and likes to clean when I do. Every time I start cleaning up her toys, she picks some up and puts them away with me. This is from our computer room. I was on the computer and so I could do what I needed to, I handed Mya our mug of pens and pencils to keep her busy. After 1 minute, she had all of the pens, pencils and markers spread out across the room. But I just ignored it and let her play. A few minutes later I looked over and she had everything cleaned up. She found a lid to a box we have had in this room and put all of the pens in there!

This is from Oreos. I had given Mya a piece of Oreo and she took it out of her mouth getting black, soggy oreo all over her hands. She then decided to decorate our wall. I then handed her a rag and told her to wash the wall, and with Justin's help, she was excited to clean it. Even after it was clean she wanted the rag back to wipe the floor. I love her!

Wayment Family Christmas Party

On the Saturday before Christmas, my family has their annual Christmas party. We all eat, play games, open presents, and Santa and Mrs. Claus comes.
Mya wasn't too interested in Santa at first, but after a while she went up to see what all of the other kids were up to. Once it was Mya's turn to sit on Santa's lap...well, we'll just say she didn't care much for Santa.

He even tried bribing her with candy canes and a present, but she wasn't interested in him.

She did keep the candy canes though!

It's tradition every year that my mom gets all of the grandkids pajamas. They love it and as soon as they open that present, they all run upstairs to various rooms and change into them.

Here are some other things she got at the party that she loves! She loves riding her car and when she pushes the stroller, she walks by herself...I don't think she realizes that that's what she does though.

Thanks Ella for the stroller!

So here are just some pictures of Mya. She loves Jerky! Justin's so proud.

Mya's Firsts

Mya took 3 steps today! I unfortunately wasn't able to see it...but I guess I'll be able to see her walk a lot in the future!

Also, here are a few of her first words:
Mom, Dad, Hi, Thank You, Baby

Wow, I can't believe how much she is growing up.

She's So Big!

Every day Mya amazes me. She now has 2 teeth (as of a week ago), stands way good by herself (but is still chicken to try walking without holding someone's hand), and then just seeing her interact with toys and people just blow my mind. The other day, she was coloring! She's only 11 months old! She laid on the floor, kicked her leg up and down and drew with a crayon on a package that needed to get mailed out. I think she watches Megan and picked it up from her because Megan loves drawing. She loves hanging out with Megan. If Megan (by the way, Megan is my niece) has a friend over, Mya likes to follow them around and play with whatever they are playing with. Just the way she is with her toys and and figures things out is crazy. In the last 2 weeks I have seen such a huge change. She is so turning into a little girl. It's so adorable. I think I'm freaking out a little because I just can't believe my baby can do all of this. I'm definitely a proud mom. I think this is hitting me to because her personality is back now that her second tooth is in. She's happy, independant, and back to her old self. I just love that girl!

What A Week!

Thanksgiving weekend was so nice! I loved that Justin and I both had Thanksgiving weekend off and didn't have to go back to work until the next Tuesday! Thanksgiving for us was at my parent's house this year. It was fun hanging out with the fam all day. I was even able to see Lauren and catch up a little with her...which I found out she is getting married this spring! I'm way excited for her!

Then Black Friday...Well I first woke up early (which I said I wouldn't do) to hit Sears before going up to Logan to spend the day. They had a carseat for way cheap so I got that! Every year it's Justin's family tradition to go up to Logan the day after Thanksgiving. We do breakfast, bowling, hang out (we do some Christmas shopping) and dinner and games. They meet up with another family they're way close with.

(Bowling...Mya loved going up with me and 'helping' me bowl. She really did help me though. I was usually doing better when I was holding her.)

All of this fun just wore her right out!

But towards the end of bowling my mom called to let us know that my grandma passed away. Well, she was really my step-grandma, but to me she was always "Grandma Wayment." They were married for 25 years, so to me she has always been my grandma. But she was so nice and always looked her best. If she was ever in her pajamas when we visited, she would just apologize. She was always making something. Usually crocheting. I remember one Christmas my grandpa made me a cradle for my doll and she made the bedding. She loved pink and jewelery-she always had jewelery on. I have a lot of memories of her...The latest is that she would always call Justin Josh. He didn't care, but she really seemed to like 'Josh.' Today was her funeral though and I'm really sad for my Grandpa. She was his world and I just hope that he will be okay with her gone and not there for him to take care of her.

Once the real work week started, it's been a lot crazier than I thought it would be. It's not quite over yet...I'm on the comittee for the ward Christmas party, so once it's Saturday afternoon, I think everything should be back to normal.

Give Thanks

This is a little late, but I have tons to be thankful for. Here are just a few:

I am so thankful for family! Since I've had Mya, I've realized how important it is to have family. Mya has changed my life so much. Especially after my miscarriage right before Mya, I realized that having a child is such a great gift Heavenly Father blesses us with. After my miscarriage and before I found out I was pregnant with Mya, it was really hard for me to go to church and see people pregnant and with babies. There was one girl with a newborn in relief society and I remember the relief society president going up to her and telling her "You know you are so lucky to have her" and that has stuck with me ever since. It struck me so hard realizing that it is such a privilege to have a child and to not take that for granted. Mya makes my life so happy. I love taking care of her and playing with her. I'm so thankful to be a mom and I am so lucky to have her!

Justin! He is just amazing! I am so thankful for my life with him. He teaches me so much and especially by example and testimony. He treats me so good! I couldn't ask for a better man to spend forever with.

The Gospel. My life is so happy because of the gospel. It gives me such a hope and I know my life would be completely different without it. Along with this, I'm glad for my life experiences and learning from mistakes or building testimony from experiences and watching other people's lives. Ever since I was little I was quick to learn from other's mistakes (even if this was just watching my brothers and sisters and what not to do so I wouldn't get spanked). I observe a lot and think about where I want to be in my life and what choices will get me there. I try to keep an eternal perspective and I am so thankful to my parents and teachers I've had that have helped make this an impact in my life.

There's more, but since I'm behind in blogging, I'll leave it at this.

My Baby's Not Such A Baby Anymore

It amazes me how much Mya has changed! The things she knows how to do now just catch me off-guard and I just think how much she just seems like a little girl now and not so much a baby. She is all of a sudden motherly to stuffed animals. About a week or two ago she crawled into my niece Megan's room and stared at her stuffed animals. She probably was in there for 5 minutes talking to the animals. I left her for a few minutes and she was still in there staring at the animals. She loves it when I pull out a stuffed animal from her bag...but she's still weary. Since stuffed animals used to scare her, she is still cautious to big dog stuffed animals, dancing and singing animals, and any that have "caution" written all over them. (She is such her mother's daughter!)

She also got her first tooth! The day after Thanksgiving she got it...so the 28th...The bad thing though is I think tooth #2 is coming in because she is way clingy and hasn't been sleeping good. But it is way cute!
