A Little Moon

So in the last four or five days I have been mooned daily. You might think it was Justin that's done this, but surprisingly it hasn't been him. Mya thinks she invented mooning and she thinks it's hilarious. Sometimes it's when she's getting ready to get in the tub and before she undresses, she pulls her pants and panties over her bum and turns around until I look. Other times, it's just random during the day. She'll pull her little pants over her little bum and start giggling until I notice. It's really hard to get mad at her because when this sweet, innocent, little girly girl catches you off guard with a butt crack, it's really hard not to laugh. I've explained to her about keeping our bums covered and we don't want anyone to see our parts, but she still thinks it's hilarious to surprise me with it and she laughs so hard every time. Oh, she makes my days interesting!

Man of the House

With Justin gone hunting, Parker became the man of the house for a few days. The first night Justin was gone, Mya went to a sleepover at her Grandma Ropelato's house. It was so weird just having only Parker at home with me. I won't lie...I got nervous. But I figured for that first night that Parker probably has a lot of angels around him so I had him sleep in my bed right next to me so maybe those angels would keep me safe, too. :)

We had a lot of fun that weekend. Mya and I watched a movie and ordered pizza. She did crash once though...(she likes ice instead of bandaids-I'm good with that, it's a lot cheaper) I also let her sleep in my bed the other nights! I was so looking foward to sprawling out on my bed, but that never happened. That's okay though because I think it was so much more fun this way!

Water Day

A couple of weeks ago we went boating for the last time this summer. This time, we made Mya ride the tube. Yes - we are one of those parents. She's done the tube before with Justin, but not this year yet and this year the idea of it freaked her out. But Justin told her she couldn't get off until she stopped crying and started having fun. It really worked, she was laughing and smiling the rest of the time and it was genuine. We left boating early for our ward activity at the splash pad. That is seriously Mya's kind of day...hanging out in her swimming suit all day and playing in the water. She should have been a mermaid.

Let's Go To The Fair!

We took Mya to the fair. We had so much fun. With all of the horses, pigs, sheep, goats, cows, birds, and bunnies, if you ask Mya what her favorite animal there was she would tell you the Tiger! Rainforest Exhibition came and had a show. We missed the show but we did watch the tigers play around after. It was so much better than the zoo because these tigers were seriously running around chasing each other and playing...the ones at the zoo just lay around. We got Mya's face and arm painted, she won some cool toys with a bean bag toss and the fish pond. (And Justin won her a guitar from a ping pong toss game). We got smoothies and before we left, Mya wanted to go on a ride. She's very cautious so we didn't buy her tickets until she said she really wanted to go after watching the ride. So Justin went and bought her tickets, only for her to chicken out once I buckled her in. Oh well...we gave Justin's friend from high school the tickets for her daughter. It was definitely a lot of fun. (I forgot my camera so we just had to make up for it afterwards)

Are Ya Stuck?

Sparkle Balls

We have a jar that Mya needs to earn "sparkle balls" to put in the jar. She earns them by helping me out, being nice or good at church or someone's house, well, there's lots of ways. We started this when we had Parker and I didn't really know what to do with her attitude so we decided to give her an incentive to be nice. For the most part, it's been really good! She decided that the first (yellow) line meant we could go bowling when we got there. It was a ton of fun! The next line is swimming! We've been trying to help her get it fast since the summer is ending, but we'll probably just have to go Clearfield's indoor pool.

Oh Mya, How I Love You

Scenerio: Mya's in the bathroom on the toilet. I walk in the bathroom right as she starts pooping. I am still on the other side of the bathroom.

Mya: Mom, your breath stinks!
Me: What? My breath stinks?
Mya: (Now looks like she might cry) Ya, your breath stinks!
Me: Mya, that's your poop you smell - you can't even smell my breath.
Mya: (Still looks like she's about to cry) No, your breath stinks mom!

Thanks Mya, what a compliment!

Summer Weekend

It seems like there's so much to do lately that I haven't been good about taking advantage of getting Mya out and having fun. So, this last weekend, I wanted to do just that. Saturday morning we went to the parade. Mya loved it. The only part she didn't like was the floats going by with water guns or balloons and would get her all wet. But other than that, she ate it up! She was so excited and it didn't take her long to catch on to hurry and snatch up the candy before the kids next to us got it all.
Then that afternoon we went boating. She loved it. She was nervous about the boat at first (which she's never been like that before in the past) but she warmed up to it and she LOVED swimming in the water. It was a lot of fun. Parker was good and the rocking put him right to sleep.
That night was Roy's fireworks. We decided to skip the crowd and just watch it from our house...on the roof. Mya thought that was pretty cool!
After the fireworks were over, Mya decided she wanted a sleepover with her Daddy. It only lasted about a half hour though because she kept telling Justin to stay in bed while she'd get out to come talk to me. After the 5th time I was a party pooper and said the sleepover was over and she had to go to bed that time. But it was really cute! She loves her Dad!

Some Thoughts...

So, I never write much church stuff down, mainly so I don't offend anyone. But since this is sort of my journal, I have a bunch of thoughts I think I should put down.

First of all, I actually did my visiting teaching this past month for the first time in about a year. The lesson was on scripture study and how it can effect your daily life. Then our Sunday school lesson a couple of weeks ago talked at the end about what scripture study can do for you and no one was answering the lady's question, so I did. It seems like whenever I participate, even my answer hits hard with me...probably just the spirit telling me what I need to change. But I've noticed through the years Justin and I have been married, that as we read together, our relationship is stronger. Justin and I don't have a lot of arguments...in fact, I can't even remember one fight. We've had our differences and frustrations, but I honestly can't think of ever having a fight. We've never raised our voices to each other. But I think a lot of that has to do with what we are doing to feed our marriage. I've noticed that when we read together, we understand each other more and respect where the other person is coming from. When we don't read, we get annoyed with each other more or let little things bother us...and when that starts happening, I go through the check list of what we are or are not doing and if we're not reading or praying together, I realize we have to up that. When I read by myself, my day goes smoother. I'm a better mom with more patience, more optimism, and my every day dealings with other people are more pleasant and people don't get to me. I'm not great at this at all, and I definitely need to work on this.

Another thing, I love the temple! I love the spirit it brings and I have a quote that I've so found to be true. It says something like "When you attend the temple, your problems seem to go away. It's not that they disappear, but that they're easier to handle." I know that as we attend the temple, we can have the spirit of the Lord with us. I've noticed that when I've attended by myself or without Justin, it's still great, but I enjoy it so much more when I go with Justin. Every month Justin and I go with his family, and I love that. It keeps us going consistantly. But sometimes, I want to go with only Justin because I feel like it's so good for our relationship, that sometimes we'll add it in that month or if Justin's family can't go, we will still go together and I love that. I really think that attending the temple regularly has been part of what keeps our relationship good. I guess I've been thinking about that since we just had our anniversary and I was thinking what we do to keep it good so we will continue to always have good anniversaries and stay married. Satan targets the family so much in today's world and I know that I'm not exempt from that. I know that Justin and I will always have to work on feeding our marriage to keep it good. When I have gotten frustrated in the past, as soon as I realize it's probably Satan pushing me to let the little things get to me, I have to make things better. I don't want Satan to win that battle, so that usually means I have to drop my pride towards Justin and do something for him to make things better. But I guess Scripture study ties in there too, because as I read the scriptures, that is part of the armor that will fight off Satan. One piece of advice that I got when we were married was when we get in a fight, do some sort of service for the other person...I've done that and I seriously can't stay annoyed. Doing an act of love replaces the opposite feeling...good and evil can't dwell together at the same time.

So that's the other part that really has struck me...service. One of the blessings I've had Justin give me told me that as I serve others, Heavenly Father will make sure my needs are met. I just had a lesson on service for young women's and I got so much out of that lesson. My mom and dad have always been a great example of service to me. I have prayed for ways to serve others lately and to recognize the ways I can serve and so when an idea comes to my mind, I can't ignore it. Especially since I prayed for the opportunity.

I'm really glad for Justin. As we raise our family, I know I'll look to how I was raised to keep us close. We always ate dinner together as a family and I'll make sure we will always do that. Even when it was just me and Justin, I waited to eat with him, even if he was late working on a tower. My parents have always done a date night and we always make sure we at least reserve a night a week for each other that doesn't include other friends or family...sometimes Mya and Parker are part of those dates, but the key is that we are spending quality time together and talking to each other. The last part is Family Night. I wish that we had done this more even when it was just me and Justin. But we do it now with Mya and I love doing that to strengthen our family. I love this gospel and how happy it makes me. I can't imagine my life without the church. I have a lot I can always improve on and I need to be better about working on always improving. I feel like I'm slacking and so my goal is to be better about reading the scriptures more every day. My goal for the last 3 months have been to be a more pleasant person to deal with and to be nicer and treat others how the Savior would. Obviously, I haven't perfected this yet and it'll probably be something I'll always have to work on, but I know it's something I have to work on and in doing so, I'll be a happier person. I'm so glad for my patriarchal blessing. I haven't been good about reading it often the last couple of years, but I've had blessings from Justin that have told me to get to know my Patriarcal Blessing better. So, my goal is to try to read it every month. I know it brings me happiness and directs and instructs me with how I need to live my life.

This is long, so I guess I'd better wrap it up. I love the gospel. I always pray that I can keep the spirit with me and in my home and relationships. As I do, I can be happy and help others to be happy. I'm so glad for my family and the temple, that we can be an eternal family and that is my main goal in life. To always work on that...If I always kept that perspective, of what really matters in life, then it makes decisions so much easier to make and how I look at and treat people...as God's children.

Parker's 3 Months!

Parker is now 3 months old as of yesterday! He loves to smile & laugh. He is seriously the happiest baby I have ever seen. As soon as he has eye contact, he'll smile, laugh, or talk to you. He makes me so happy! He had his first haircut today! He looks pretty studly! We just love having him in our family!

He's now rolling over, too! He rolled over for the first time tonight!

4 Years!

Yesterday was our 4 year anniversary. It was such a fun weekend! In the past, we've always gone somewhere for our anniversary. First year was Logan, 2 year was Clear Creek, 3 year was Bear Lake, and this year was a stay-cation. We took Mya and Parker to Justin's parent's Sunday night for them to sleep over and we'd come get them Monday evening. It was so nice. We didn't know what to do, it was so quiet. We watched an entire movie Sunday night without any interruptions. Monday we woke up without being woken up by "MOOOMMMMM!" or Parker needing to be fed. We went to breakfast, went to the movies (saw Salt), went mini-golfing, did a little shopping and got ice cream. After that, we decided to drive down to Cabela's and we ended up having a late lunch down there. I loved that one-on-one time I got with Justin. For our anniversary the next day, I packed up the kids and we surprised Justin with lunch from Big Jim's (somewhere he really likes but hardly goes there anymore). Then after he was off work, we went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse and ended with a little shopping. It was seriously so nice and so needed!

I'm going to brag and say that I think I have such a great husband and a great marriage! There's so much good to say about Justin. I seriously love being married to him. I love that he honors his priesthood and has such a strong testimony in the church. I love how devoted he is to our family. He is such a great dad to Mya and Parker and Mya just adores him. Last night she saw my flowers Justin gave me for our anniversary and she said that it was her anniversary. I told her she won't have an anniversary until she's married. Then she told me that when she's married, she'll have an anniversary and her dad will buy her flowers. So cute!!! Justin is so good to me. He takes such good care of us and he's always making me laugh and making light of a situation. He amazes me with his witty comments sometimes...I'm not sure how he comes up with them so quick that sometimes, I won't have a come back. We have such a fun and good relationship. He's such a good example to me. He's always thinking of others and he brings a smile to everyone's face! I just love him a ton!
