4th of July!

We decided to try out our trailer and take it camping for the 4th! We headed up to Clear Creek. The campgrounds were flooded, but we just went further up the road and camped. We definitely had fun. Each night we would drive around and look for deer. One night the deer were pretty far away so Justin had Mya sit on his lap and look through the binoculars. He asked her, "What do you see?" "Rocks." So as he moved it down a little she yells out "Oh, I see an animal!" It was cute. Sunday we went to City of Rocks. It was cool to see. We stopped at the visitor center in Almo, Idaho and let the kids pick somthing out. Mya picked out a t-shirt and Parker picked out a marmot stuffed animal! We tried to sway him to other cuter stuffed animals, but that's what he wanted and anything else he would just throw as he held onto his marmot. It was funny and Justin and I were surprised they would even make a Yellow-bellied Marmot!

The trailer isn't finished yet, but the outside was done and I cleaned the inside. Hopefully next year we'll be able to finish the inside!

This trip was a little rough on Parker, though! He fell so many times. One time out of the trailer, another time just into some weeds, but he had an allergic reaction to the weeds where he smashed his face into them, plus he just fell a couple of other times, too! But overall, we had a lot of fun and were glad to get away as a family!

Labor Day

I'm a little late posting Labor Day since it's almost October now, but better late than never. We went up to Browne Lake again with my family. Mya went up a few days early with my parents and loved it. (In fact, we were talking in the car yesterday and she said she wanted to go camping tomorrow and she would go up with Grandma for a little while and then I could come up and she would sleep in her trailer - funny girl). I won't lie, I got a lot done in those couple of days without her...but I did miss her and was so anxious to get up there and see my little girl!

This year we invited Justin's brother, Braxton, to come with us. It's always a good time with Braxton. Him and Justin are pretty close so we usually see quite a bit of him. Mya really loved having Braxton up there! The things we did were just the usual but tons of fun and always a relaxing weekend. We did some fishing, campfires, roasting hot dogs/marshmallows, driving around to see animals at night, and hanging out with family. Mya loves having all of her cousins up there to play with her and aunts that compete to be her favorite and always have grandma and grandpa tied around her little finger. Parker loved it and he had all of the attention he could want!

It was definitely another fun year and I love this tradition!
I couldn't resist...she's cute even with her butt crack showing.
Mya caught the first fish of the trip from our family.
She's showing off her owies...A few days before she went up camping, she grabbed my hair straightener when it was hot causing 6 blisters across her little fingers. Poor thing...and the day before she smashed her pinkie turning her nail purple. It was a rough couple of days for that little hand.

Pineview

In the middle of July, we went with Justin's family up to Pineview for camping. This was taking place of their annual Lake Powell trip since we wouldn't be going to Lake Powell with Parker just born and I think Trichelle's family had some things. So they decided to plan something close so we could come and go as we needed to.

It happed to be a really cold weekend. We went up Thursday night and it rained Friday and Saturday. So they ended up not even bringing the boat up. We played games, went on walks between rain storms, and it was nice just hanging out and being away from home. Sunday and Monday were nice though. On Monday, we played kickball, football, and frisbee. Mya and Ivy kept talking and asking about going swimming. We knew the water was freezing, but decided to let them figure that out and that they didn't really want to go swimming. We got them all ready and headed down there...only that the water was cold but not as cold as we expected. So all of the kids ended up playing in the water for a while. It was a way fun weekend though and it got me way excited for more summer camping trips.
Oh, and Mya now loves rainbows since we saw one while we were up there. She'll now start drawing a whole bunch of lines on a piece of paper and say "Know what I'm drawing?...A rainbow."

Browne Lake

My family has always loved camping and we always go to the same place, Browne Lake in the Uintas. We were lucky enough to take a trailer from Justin's work this year, and that will make it hard tenting it next time we go up there.
The trailer was so comfortable and warm!
It was way fun this time with Mya's age. She explored a ton! We'd go for walks to a nearby stream, she thought she was big enough to walk from one trailer to the next to find whoever she was looking for, and just walk around with the big kids (and little!). The reason I say little is because Mya and Zoe are pals, but when they're together, they do things I don't think they would normally do. There was a couple of times where they'd just start wandering off. At one point, if Justin and Heidi hadn't been paying attention, we could have lost them. They walked off through the trees, over to the next road, and only stopped for a puddle to splash in. They never looked back once to see if anyone was following. They're funny when they get together.

Fishing was not hot for us this trip. I actually got a license this time since we'd be up there longer and going back for Labor Day. Justin got one bite the entire trip, and I got none. I thought it'd be really cool to catch one and show Mya and see her reaction, but I guess maybe next time. But we had plenty of time to take pictures, since the fish weren't biting.
This is when we first all went fishing. My niece Ella (who is almost 3) caught a huge fish right off the bat and had another bite right after...but she was the only one.
We decided to try one more time before dinner on Saturday, but a storm was rolling in, so it was a little cold.

We always go for a drive at night to look for animals. Mya knows what deer are and I really wanted to show her some. Most nights we left her in her car seat so she never really saw the animals we did. But one night Justin and I drove to just the end of the road to go into Browne and saw 10 elk. We told Mya they were deer (which it was probably better we saw those since they're bigger and darker) and she of course shot them with her finger.Saturday night she fell asleep on the drive looking for animals. This night we had 4 trucks of people looking for animals. We were talking about going on some side roads on the way up to Spirit Lake, but ended up just driving straight up there and take the side roads on the way back. It ended up being a good thing we did. As we got to Spirit Lake, a guy flagged us down asking if we were Search and Rescue, thinking that maybe we were because of all of the trucks. He then told us that a 9 year old boy was lost and it was his son. This was the night the storm was rolling in. It was cold, drizzily, and windy. The emotions I felt for this boy I didn't even know hit hard. The guys got out of the trucks and headed up the trail to look for this boy. The girls and kids piled up in our Explorer and we headed back to camp, hoping they could find him. The problem with this trail is that there's a stream running along it and it's a really marshy area. Half of the time, you can't tell where this trail is and with it being spring time, the water was all over. They headed up the trail banging pans, but with the wind, Justin said if he had been so far or ahead of them, there was no way he would hear them. Once it was dark, they all got off the mountain and headed back. As we were heading back, we passed so many Search and Rescue. We stopped in a few camps to spread the word and prayed so much for this little boy. There wasn't much more we could do at that point. When then guys came home that night and told us the boy still wasn't found, it became a sleepless night. Early that morning, they all went back and to help look for the boy. There were 170 volunteers! Once Search and Rescue gave the guys their grid on the map to look for the boy, they started heading up there, only to hear on the walkie talkies that the boy could have been found. After about 10 minutes, it was confirmed that he was found!
The guys talked to the boy's aunt and she had asked Grayson what he did that night. He said he laid down by a tree that had fallen over, then prayed and cried all night. It was so emotional for all of us. We didn't even know this boy and we all hoped so much that he would be okay. It was a great trip spending time with the family, but that experience made me hold on a little tighter to Mya that night and be so glad for the people who surround my life.
